Two men have been arraigned in an Ado Ekiti chief magistrate’s court for allegedly stealing 16 cows.
The police, which arraigned them on Tuesday, said the men, Ibrahim
Mohammad, 30 and Usman Haruna, 26, allegedly committed the offence in
Ilafo-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of the state at about 2a.m. on
June 3, 2016.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Caleb Leranmo, also alleged that the
accused, on the said date, unlawfully stole 16 cows valued at N1
million, property of one Yusuf Abdullahi.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence while their counsel, Mr
Timilehin Omotosho, prayed the court to grant bail to the accused in
liberal terms, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Aderopo Adegboye consequently granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case to June 16, 2016 for further hearing.
